Rockwell Group and Diller Scofidio + Renfro Style Sky-High Amenities at NYC’s 15 Hudson Yards
The New York City skyline just north of Chelsea recently gained an impressive new addition. Seventy stories of cold-bent glass enclose the 285 residences of 15 Hudson Yards, the first residential property slated to open in the newly-developed neighborhood. Enclosed within the monumental tower are 40,000 square feet of wellness and lifestyle amenities, executed jointly by interior design and architecture firms Rockwell Group and Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
The 50th floor of the building is a veritable wellness destination. A 75-foot-long swimming pool overlooks the Hudson River, while a private spa and beauty bar offer a respite from the stresses of city life. Elsewhere on the floor are a fitness center and yoga studio commissioned by The Wright Fit, a fitness center design and consulting firm.
“For Fifteen Hudson Yards, our goal was to create interior spaces that are simultaneously calm and strong,” said David Rockwell, the founder and president of Rockwell Group. “We developed a rich, meticulously-detailed palette of natural materials, making the most out of the building’s orientation and daylight, to underline the extraordinary views of the city’s dynamic, ever-changing skyline.”
While floor 50 inspires R&R and introspection, the offerings on floor 51 are geared toward collaboration. The Atelier, a private co-working space, invites residents to mingle while they work in an open-office setting—if they don’t get distracted by the breathtaking views. After a productive day, residents can unwind by taking swings on the virtual green of the floor’s golf lounge, or have friends over for drinks in the wine-tasting room and club lounge.
These expansive amenities could have something to do with the how quickly the building’s residences have filled. Even though the property is still a work in progress, 60 percent of the 285 residences have already been sold. To call this piece of the skyline home will come at a premium, though. The homes that remain for sale range from $3.9 million for a two-bedroom to $32 million for a duplex penthouse.
