This Residential Tower Functions as a Micro City in New York

2022 Best of Year Winner for Multiunit Residential

“Let’s not do another glass curtain-wall building,” architect Sir David Adjaye recalls when conceiving this 66-story residential tower in the Financial District. His Adjaye Associates team and Hill West instead looked to Manhattan’s rich tradition of masonry architecture. The resulting structure references the city’s historic brick warehouses through its tinted hand-cast concrete facade and rhythmic bronze arched windows. Conceived as a vertical micro city, the 242-unit luxury condominium boasts ground-floor retail along with such amenities as a new public plaza, plunge pools, and a rooftop observation deck. The upper residences are customized with loggias, which offer panoramic views of the Hudson River framed by curved portals.
